Calling all aspiring young artists! 🎤 Dreamt of performing at the Calgary Stampede? The Stirling John Foundation for Youth Empowerment is back for a second year, teaming up with the Stampede to turn a youth's dream into reality! Join us on July 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM on the Window on the West Stage.
🎸 Don't play an instrument but love to sing? No worries! The @stirlingjohnmusic band will be your backing band, and guess what? You'll even receive an honorarium for your performance! Here's how to apply: 1️⃣ Tell us about yourself: name, age, goals, how long you've been singing, inspirations, and what performing would mean to you. 2️⃣ Send us an unedited 1-minute video of you performing—just be yourself! Submissions should be emailed to stirlingjohnfoundation@gmail.com, and remember, the deadline for applications is April 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM. The Calgary Stampede board will review submissions and the lucky contestant will be contacted by email on May 7, 2024. Don't miss this chance to shine! ✨

Our vision is to enrich Indigenous Youth through exploring the opportunities of the music industry. Providing knowledge, guidance, and experience to further our musical Indigenous youth in Alberta.
In the spirit of ongoing truth and reconciliation with our Indigenous communities, Stirling John Foundation for Youth Empowerment will be conducting youth engagement in the Treaty 6, Treaty 7 and Treaty 8 Indigenous Communities. This initiative is to build relationships and trust between the indigenous communities through music while encouraging the creativity with youth in Indigenous communities in Alberta. This initiative will develop the following skills: Leadership, Relationship Building, Self-Worth, Discipline , Community Awareness, and Creativity.
